The Kasunanan Palace was built in 1743. This historical building was once the seat of power after the Mataram Kingdom was divided into two. Today, it is a tourist destination which offers a learning experience about the history of the area.
Inside, tourists will first be greeted by the alun-alun, a large square filled with statues, banyan trees and examples of traditional handicrafts. As for the main building, it is decorated with gold and diamond ornaments, marble flooring and even crystal lamps.
The art gallery of the Kasunan Palace exhibits antiques, bronze statues, royal heirlooms and other historically significant items.
