Covering a total area of 6.5 hectares at the heart of Jakarta, the Presidential Palace complex is a majesyic sight. The palace has two main buildings namely the Independence Palace and the State Palace. Also found in the same complex are the State Residence, Presidential Office, the Museum of the Presidential Palace and the Baiturrahman Mosque.
The Presidential Palace, as the name suggest, is the where official presidential activities occur. It is also the center of government activities such as inauguration of state officials, state ceremonies, hosting of state guests, international conferences and the commemoration of the country's Independence Day every August 17.
