The Glossary
Costa Rica is one of those few countries in the world with the most rivers per square kilometer. Hence, it is just natural that white water rafting here is best with its many rivers that offer different speeds: from subtle, mellow-like to quick and zooming rapids. Here’s a list of the country’s white water rafting hot spots:
* Turrialba: The white water rafting Mecca, a town near Reventazon and Pacuare Rivers
*Sarapiqui River: raft down the rushing waters flowing from Arenal Volcano
*Penas Blancas and Toro: raft down these rivers that flow from mountain slopes. Penas Blancas is also known for its biodiversity.
*El General’s Coto Brus River: a playground for kayakers for its vastness and wildlife
*Savegre and Naranjo Rivers: rivers so long, you’ll have to spend one to two days to complete the course. You may spend the night on your boat in Savegre. Nanjo’s Chorro Section is considered to be the country’s best in adrenaline rush.
*Corobici River in Canas, Guanacaste: a good place to just float under the shade of trees. The trip continues to Tenorio River, a place untouched by humans for over a millennium
