Tourists are transported back in history in Chongqing, China's largest and most populous municipality that pays homage to the heroism of the Allied forces during the Second World War. A two-day train journey away from Beijing, Chongqing used to be China's provisional capital for 10 years. During WWII, it was a headquarters of the Allies, who constructed many buildings, museums and memorials in their honor. Right in the middle of Chongqing is the People's Liberation Monument, the city's symbol that used to be the highest building in Chongqing until surrounding skyscrapers diminished it into a dwarf. This tower was originally built as a reminder of the Allies' "victory over the Axis armies."...
