The long, colorful and sometimes violent history of Beijing's streets is best chronicled in the Beijing Police Museum. Here tourists will wonder what really is the reward of being part of Beijing's finest, is it about the glory or is it about despair? Visitors will be treated with exhibits of handcufs, bullet-proof vests, hero badges, bloody scenes of the city's past and even cracked skulls as they go through the museum. There are relics of police history, which are explained both in Chinese and English language, since its establishment during the Qing Dynasty. Notable relics to be seen in the museum include whistles, cameras and other equipment used by the police from 1950 to today. Perhaps one of the most rare relic in the Beijing Police Museum are the guns used by Lu Xianzhou and his gang in multiple robberies throughout Beijing in 1995 and 1996.
