Decorated with Khmer style roofs and architecture, the Royal Palace of Phnom Penh in Cambodia is a building complex that is used as the royal home of the Kingdom of Cambodia. Also known as the Preah Barom Reachea Vaeng Chaktomuk, this was occupied by the royal family since its construction in 1866 and was only evacuated during the Khmer Rouge regime. There are several buildings in the complex, most notably on the north side is the Silver Pagoda which is one of the most famous attractions in Phnom Penh. The Royal Palace is also where the Khemarin Palace is located at the southwest side as well as the central Throne Hall. Some parts of the compound are closed to the public.
