A far-flung district in the north of Bhutan, Lhuetse Dzongkhag, also known as Kurtoe by its inhabitants, lies on the crescent-shaped slope facing a hillock from which the strategically placed dzong (temple) overlooks the surrounding countryside like an armed sentinel.
