The Glossary
jamidari or zamindar - "an official who collects taxes from the peasants."
The Circuit House was where former Bangladesh President Zia-ur Rahman was killed by some disgruntled army personnel. Because of this tragic event that occurred in May 30, 1981, the house was turned into the Zia Museum. The museum is where many of the former president's belongings are kept and preserved.
Aside from that, the Circuit House has another graphic history. It was used as a torturing center by the Pakistani Army during the independence war of Bangladesh. The army tortured and brutally killed several people in the house.
