Ateshgah of Baku
A pentagon shaped structure, the Ateshgah of Baku, or simply known as the Fire Temple, is a Hindu religious complex. The temple courtyard is surrounded by cells that were used by monks in its heyday.
The Ateshgah of Baku was built in the 17th century until it was abandoned in 1883 due to the construction of oil and gas plants in the surrounding area. By 1975, the complex was converted into a museum. By 1998, the site was nominated to be part of UNESCO World Heritage Site. On Dec 2007, it was decreed by the president as a historical and architectural reserve.
